My name is Shimon, and I am currently head of governance for Squads Labs. I have been active in this industry since 2017 and full time Solana since 2020. My background is in token economics, risk, governance, decentralized finance, and research. Squads Labs is the preferred multisig on Solana, currently securing over $10B in its smart accounts.
I have contributed to Jito mainly through collaborative research on restaking. I greatly believe in Jito’s flexible approach to restaking, and the potential NCNs and LRVs have for composability in DeFi. I have contributed to governance in various capacities on Solana DAOs. As a member of Squads Labs, I am focused on growing the on-chain economy on Solana and am certain that the Jito Network’s growth is a net positive for Solana and Squads. At Squads we rely on Jito for various features that give our users better user experience and safety. I would be honored to represent Squads as a governance delegate in the Jito Network.
In my personal view, yield is an essential aspect to optimize when it comes to JitoSOL validator delegation. We can achieve decentralization by making it profitable enough for more new entrants into the validator space to justify the costs of becoming a validator.
Grants should be used on projects that contribute to the Jito Network’s utility and proliferation, not cosmetics. Liquidity mining incentives should be used first and foremost where they are needed direly to maintain healthy on-chain liquidity and mitigate the chances for economic attacks. As such, there should be a preference for direct incentives for those who take the risk of supplying active liquidity for JTO. My goal as a delegate would be to contribute actively to the health of the Jito Network through the lenses of economic security, incentive design, and decentralized governance.
