Launching a Viral TikTok Channel to Promote Jito and Solana MEV

Launching a Viral TikTok Channel to Promote Jito and Solana MEV
Category: Treasury (allocation of developer grants, funds, incentives, etc. from the Foundation’s on-chain treasury)

Abstract
This proposal seeks to launch a dedicated TikTok channel to produce 20 monthly short-form videos designed to promote the Jito Foundation, educate Solana users on MEV and JitoSOL, and raise awareness of Jito’s value within the Solana ecosystem. The initiative will be led by a professional content creator (@cryptocomix, google me) with a strong track record of translating complex blockchain concepts into viral, retail-accessible video content and extensive experience in maintaining TikTok accounts, avoiding bans, and managing temporary suspensions.
Requested funding: 2,216 JITO (paid in USDC or JITO), covering production, editing, and software costs. A proposed payment schedule is included to align disbursements with deliverables and allow the DAO to cease payments if work is not delivered.

  1. Motivation
Jito is a cornerstone of the Solana ecosystem, yet many retail users and stakers remain unaware of MEV, Jito’s functionality, or its significance. While builders and validators grasp its importance, public-facing education is limited. TikTok, the fastest-growing platform for financial and crypto education, particularly among Gen Z and younger investors, offers an ideal medium to bridge this gap. This initiative will deliver engaging, meme-native, and technically accurate content to boost awareness of Jito and spark interest in its staking, validator, and MEV infrastructure.

  2. Key Terms

MEV (Maximal Extractable Value): Profits extracted by validators or block producers by reordering or inserting transactions within a block.
LST (Liquid Staking Token): A token representing a staked asset, liquid and usable in DeFi.
JitoSOL: Jito’s liquid staking token, distributing MEV rewards to holders.
TikTok: A social media platform known for viral short-form video content, widely used for crypto education.
Retail-facing content: Educational material designed for users without deep technical expertise.

  1. Specification
This proposal outlines a TikTok-first content campaign with the following scope:
    Responsibilities
    cryptocomix will handle:

Writing, scripting, and recording 20 monthly TikTok videos
On-screen performance, strategy, and post scheduling
Viewer engagement and comment moderation
Leveraging expertise in TikTok account management to avoid bans and suspensions

Freelance video editor will:

Edit all videos with platform-optimized formatting, subtitles, memes, and transitions
Ensure audio-visual polish and fast-paced TikTok pacing

Timeline

Week 1: Strategic planning and scriptwriting
Weeks 2–4: Video production, editing, and publishing (approx. 5 videos per week)
Monthly: Performance tracking and reporting

Content Focus

Explainers: What is Jito? How does MEV work on Solana?
Comparisons: Ethereum MEV vs. Solana MEV
Tutorials: Staking with JitoSOL
Culture: Meme and trend-reactive content
Community: Builder and ecosystem highlights

  1. Benefits/Risks
    Benefits

Raises public awareness of Jito’s mission and infrastructure
Educates SOL holders and new users on MEV and staking
Drives traffic to JitoSOL and validator interfaces
Creates a foundational media property for the Foundation

Risks

Content may not gain traction if not shared strategically
Short-form platforms are subject to algorithmic shifts
Misunderstanding of MEV could persist if not simplified carefully

Mitigation
The creator’s proven ability to balance clarity, technical accuracy, and viral formatting, combined with expertise in maintaining TikTok accounts to avoid bans and suspensions, reduces communication and platform-related risks.
Outcomes

Increased public awareness of Jito and JitoSOL
Growth in MEV education within the Solana ecosystem
Measurable increases in views, engagement, and staking interest
Foundation-owned content repository for future campaigns

Cost Summary
Total funding requested: 2,216 JITO equivalent, payable in USDC or SOL
Breakdown:

Content Creation (1,560 JITO eq.): Production of 20 TikToks, including creative, filming, scripting, and strategy
Editor (547 JITO eq.): Professional editing for 20 videos, including subtitles, memes, and motion design
Software (109 JITO eq.): Subscription to CapCut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent editing tools

Proposed Payment Schedule
To ensure alignment with deliverables and protect the DAO’s interests, the following payment schedule is proposed:

Milestone 1 (Week 1, Setup and Launch): 20% of funds (443.2 JITO eq.) released upon creation of the Jito TikTok channel and submission of initial strategy and scripts.

Milestone 2 (Week 2, First Batch): 20% of funds (443.2 JITO eq.) released upon delivery and publication of the first 5 videos.

Milestone 3 (Week 3, Second Batch): 20% of funds (443.2 JITO eq.) released upon delivery and publication of the next 5 videos.

Milestone 4 (Week 4, Final Batch): 20% of funds (443.2 JITO eq.) released upon delivery and publication of the final 10 videos.

Milestone 5 (End of Month, Reporting): 20% of funds (443.2 JITO eq.) released upon submission of view count, engagement stats, and optional referral traffic data (if links enabled).

Termination Clause: The DAO may cease payments at any milestone if the work is not delivered as specified (e.g., failure to publish videos or meet quality standards). Any disputes will be resolved via DAO governance.

Note on Creator Expertise
The proposer, @cryptocomix, has extensive experience in managing TikTok accounts, ensuring they remain active and compliant with platform guidelines. This includes strategies to avoid bans and temporary suspensions, such as adhering to content policies, optimizing posting schedules, and engaging with the community to maintain account health. This expertise will ensure the Jito TikTok channel operates smoothly and maximizes its reach.

Feedback I got from other projects is that it’s quite difficult to have an active channel on web2 platforms like Instagram and TikTok - they keep switching it off. Just a heads up that it’s probably worth looking into that.

Hello @cryptocomix, please edit this draft to include an appropriate asset (there is no JIP token) as well as a proposed payments schedule. Additionally, I would recommend including a payments schedule that allows the DAO to cease payment in the event that work is not delivered. Feel free to DM me with questions.

Just edited the original post- let me know ur thoughts

Hey, looking more closely at the proposal itself, I see the outlined topics are actually quite educational. At first I wasn’t sure if the current vibe of your TikTok aligns with Jito’s image, but the clear focus on breaking down Jito, MEV, and JitoSOL is solid. This kind of content could genuinely help bridge the knowledge gap for retail users. It would also be great to see some content around the governance structure and the kind of culture we’re trying to build here.

Given all that, I’m supportive of giving this a shot, especially since we definitely need more accessible content on MEV and staking. I’d just recommend building in clear check-in points to assess whether the content actually translates to real staking activity or an increase in meaningful community involvement.

Thanks for your kind words. There are now check points built into the proposal
